Cast iron kettle with rounded bottom and three short legs, wire bail and tin lid. Lid is joined in the center and each side folds up. Each side of lid has an oval shaped funnel to allow for donations of coins and paper currency to be placed in the kettle. One side of the lid locks with latch and padlock (padlock not present), the other side of the lid is soldered shut. Several holes are drilled into the bottom of the kettle.
This kettle was used for many years by volunteer bell ringers from the Galesburg, IL Fire Department while they collected donations for The Salvation Army during the Christmas Red Kettle Campaign season.
