Description Original packaging (envelope) for Cecil Burdick's The Salvation Army USA WWI War Service medal (2016.11.39). Rectangular brown paper with four flaps (one on each side). Circular redish brown logo stamped on top flap: redish brown shield logo in centere with the letters W, H, C, and o arranged vertically in the negative space ( brown paper color). Around circular border in redich brown is the text: "THE WHITEHEAD & HOAG CO./ NEWARK, N.J.". Stamped below in logo in same color: "FINE BRONZE/ MEDAL & BADGES." Front of packaging/envelope (when folded) has "Lieut. C. Burdick" written in script in dark ink. Written diagonally in pencil in the lower righthand side is "South West".
It is likely that Cecil also stored her 1st Division pin (2016.11.50) within this envelope, as it came attached/pinned to the inside of the envelope.
